The difference between Rulon J and Rulon LR

Rulon® J is an all polymer reinforced light brown PTFE compound that performs exceptionally well on soft mating surfaces such as 316 stainless steel, aluminum, mild steel, brass and other plastics. The unique "shaft-friendly" material also has low friction and wear and is self-lubricating. Rulon® J has the lowest coefficient of friction of most reinforced PTFE materials. This makes it ideal for start/stop applications where stick-slip must be eliminated. The tribological properties of this material also make it suitable for bearing and wear part applications.

Rulon® AR is more flexible than Rulon LR and is therefore suitable for sealing and bonding coatings on sliding surfaces. It has decades of use in automotive shaft seals and fuel metering pump cups. Rulon® AR has a nearly universal chemical inertness similar to Rulon LR, providing long life and reliability in continuous non-lubricated service. It is capable of operating at about 10,000 pv values. For intermittent use applications, higher pv values are possible.
